and operator Captain Mike Dunnigan
started Sea Hawk Salmon Charters
in September of 1991, and is based
out of Skyline Marina in Anacortes,
Washington. Anacortes is the gateway
to the beautiful San Juan Islands.
Leaving from Skyline Marina offers
quick access to the many productive
fishing spots around the area.
Sea Hawk Salmon Charters offers quality charter fishing trips from two
to four clients per outing. Fishing
in small parties means that we can
give you that one-on-one attention
you expect in a quality-fishing
trip.

Mike
Dunnigan is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Skipper
and has many years of experience fishing the
San Juan Island area. Mike prides himself
on working very hard and doing what it takes
to put fish in the boat. His main style of
fishing is slow trolled cut plug herring,
which he has found over the years to be the
most consistent and productive method of fishing
the San Juan’s. During the spring and
summer when there are large concentrations
of candlefish, Mike will fish jigs or hardware,
which work very effectively, and can be very
exciting when using light tackle.
Sea
Hawk Salmon Charters is a year round charter,
taking advantage of every fishing opportunity
each season has to offer. Starting in the
winter months (November through March) he
is fishing the winter Blackmouth, (immature
Chinook) which weigh between 6lbs. and 20lbs.
Spring and summer (April through August)
brings the migrating King salmon into the
San Juan areas on their way to the local
rivers in Western Washington and southern
BC. They range from 12 lbs. to 35 lbs. with
the odd fish in the 40's. Once you've caught
a King you'll always be back! Late summer
and fall (August through October) brings
the migrating Silver salmon (Coho) and,
during the odd years, large runs of Pink
salmon (Humpies). These fish can account
for some of the fastest fishing action the
Islands have to offer.
